Más información

Zubielqui is one of the municipalities in the Allín Valley closest to Estella-Lizarra, located just four kilometers away. Nestled on the left bank of the Ega River and very close to Arbeiza, the village stretches out at the foot of Mount Belástegui, in a setting that combines riverine scenery, mid-mountain terrain, and a distinct rural character.

From the village itself, views open up toward the Allín Valley, the Améscoas, and the Urbasa and Lóquiz mountain ranges, while Mount Belástegui, at 769 meters, serves as a visual landmark and a hiking destination. Zubielqui is the starting point for circular routes that connect to Eulz and other municipalities in the valley, and it is also part of the Basque-Navarre Railway Greenway, an ideal route for walking or cycling toward Estella.

The parish church of La Asunción, of medieval origin, was built in the 13th century and extensively renovated in the 16th century. It preserves a remarkable Romanesque-style main altarpiece from the 16th and 17th centuries, the work of Juan Imberto, which stands out for its meticulous polychromatic decoration. In the hamlet, one can see 16th- and 17th-century homes bearing coats of arms, as well as the old railway station from the early 20th century—a testament to the train’s passage through the valley—which has now been converted into a residence.

Zubielqui maintains an active local community centered on livestock farming, agriculture, and small workshops. The patron saint festivities are held on August 15 in honor of the Virgin of the Assumption, and the municipality also participates in joint celebrations in the Allín-Metauten Valley, as well as in traditional pilgrimages that strengthen the historical ties between the surrounding villages.
