Route 23. The Gypsum Landscapes of Cárcar

We start the route from the municipal swimming pools of Cárcar. We leave the village towards the upper part of “El Raso”, where we find the cliffs overlooking the banks of the River Ega. Running parallel to them, we take the path back towards Cárcar and, on entering the town centre, come across a panoramic viewpoint.

We continue the route and, on reaching the church of San Miguel, begin an urban section that descends to the banks of the River Ega. After crossing the bridge, we take the path on the left and enter the out-and-back section of the gypsum walk of Cárcar, parallel to the river.

Finally, we return to Cárcar along the same path to the church, where we make our way through the streets back to the starting point at the municipal swimming pools.
