Route 20. Carlist Cycling Route

Recorrido

We start the circular route next to the Carlism Museum in Estella. We head towards Villatuerta along the cycle path that links the two municipalities and, on reaching Villatuerta, take the track that leads southeast. Before reaching 10 km, we turn north towards the first important point on the route: the Cross of Mauriain. From here, we head towards the next point, the Princess of Asturias redoubt, near the summit of Eskinza. Once there, we take part of the Tauste-Andía Royal Drove Road to begin the descent towards Lorca and then continue towards Lácar. One of the most important battles of the Third Carlist War took place in these two villages.

From Lácar, we head towards Abárzuza and pass by the church of Nuestra Señora de Eguiarte, an ideal place to stop. Afterwards, after several stretches of road and agricultural tracks, we reach Abárzuza. In this village, we can also see remains from the Carlist Wars. From here, we continue towards the village of Zurucuáin, following stretches of road and agricultural tracks, and take the final climb and descent through the market gardens of San Lorenzo until we return to the starting point.
